Born in Bradford, West Yorkshire in 1997. Asher Knight first tried his hand at singing age 15. Initially reticent about his vocal ability, he was spurred on by an encouraging vocal tutor, who convinced him he had something special. In 2013, he started working with renowned celebrity vocal guru, CeCe Sammy, who mentored him on the craft of performance and singing, as well as the business side of the music industry.
Six months later, Asher moved to London and has since been focusing full time on his music, working with renowned writers and pop producers such as: Cutfather, AC Burrell, Francci Richards, Terry Ronald & Ian Masterson, and Pete Boxta Martin. His first single Hurricanes and Tornadoes is released in February 2018, with a video directed in Los Angeles by legendary choreographer and creative director, Travis Payne.
Also in February, Asher will be performing his songs on a nationwide tour of schools in the UK in association with Barnardos children’s charity. The theme of the tour confronts an issue that he faced as a teenager: bullying in all its forms. As Asher himself says, ‘Being teased quickly turned into something that I couldn’t control, and something I didn’t know how to handle.’ With this focus he hopes to use his own compelling story to inspire students that with hard work and determination, you really can overcome rough times and realise your dreams. It’s a subject that remains as important as the music itself as far as Asher is concerned, and something he intends to focus on with future musical endeavours.
Outside of music, Asher has a great love of history and culture, as well as a keen interest in politics and business.
